Frequently Asked Questions
Before the project begins we take a 50% deposit. We then charge 25% of the remaining balance after the homepage design is delivered. We charge the remaining 25% balance after final approval of the website and before we transfer the site over to your possession. We take most forms of payment including credit card, check, cash, and Paypal. You will be emailed the invoices.
It depends on the size and functionality of the website. With full cooperation and quick response times from the client we can finish a small business website within 3-5 weeks. We will detail all of the times and phases in the proposal we send to you before the project begins. We check in and give you updates along the way so you know exactly where we are in the process.
Before we begin the design we take steps to develop a shared vision in order to provide you with the exact kind of website you are looking for. We do this by setting up a kick-off phone call with you where we can discuss what you are looking for. We also send over a brief questionnaire where you can show us any websites you like, dislike, competitor’s sites to check out, color scheme, purpose of the website, and more.
We then start off with the most important page on your website – the homepage and deliver that concept to you within two weeks. You can either approve or give us revisions. We then move on to the rest of the pages of the site and finish & deliver those within the next two weeks. Once again you can either approve or give us revisions. We split it up this way because the inner pages usually follow the same design found on the homepage – so doing every single page in 3-4 weeks and showing you only to find out it’s not to your liking isn’t very efficient.
Once the final design is approved we perform quality assurance on the site. We test it out on all devices & browsers. We improve the site speed & performance. We send the final invoice and then transfer it over to your server and possession. If you have hosting with GoDaddy we do this last part for free.
We take many preemptive measures to increase the chances that you will like the design we make for you including the kick off phone call & questionnaire mentioned above where you can show us websites & designs you like and dislike and explain what you are looking for. Regardless, you have rounds of revisions to give us after we show the designs. They can be a list of revisions as long as you like as long as they abide by the guidelines found in the proposal. If you think you may want more rounds of revisions than the ones we include in the proposal just mention that to us.
There are no other hidden costs or fees. You just have to pay for web hosting if you don’t currently have a hosting plan. We can set this up for you.
Yes you will own everything including the website and the design. Everything will be transferred to your possession including the files and database. All of this will be detailed in writing in the proposal we both sign.
Yes, if needed we can use professional stock photography for your site. Up to 3% of the total project budget can be spent on stock photos. We highly recommend using the website Big Stock Photo, as they have some of the best stock photos available. If you are located in the New York area and prefer to hire a professional photographer, we can get you a custom quote and help you hire the best person for the job.
Yes, language translation can be added for almost all languages. Our fee starts around $250 per language added, but can vary depending on the amount of text needed. We can hire professional translators for this task, or you can provide the translations yourself if you wish.
Our sites are all tested and function properly on Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and the latest versions of Internet Explorer.
Our preferred content management system is WordPress. If you prefer using another CMS such as SquareSpace, we can also work with that for no additional cost.
At the completion of your project we recommend you host and maintain your website with us. As the ones who built the site we know it better than any third party hosting company. We will be able to keep your site up to date, create regular backups, and keep the site safe and secure. Should you choose to host with another company, that is no issue and we can give some recommendations for some popular choices.
We highly recommend using WooCommerce, which is among the most popular eCommerce platforms and works seamlessly with WordPress.
